Albert Dock

The Albert Dock was originally a working dock. It was opened by Prince Albert in 1846 after 5 years of construction. The Albert Dock was the first structure in Britain to be built from entirely brick, cast iron and stone. This made it the first non-combustible warehouse in the world.

In 1984 the Docks were officially re-opened as an attraction, after a major re-development project. The Albert Dock boasts the biggest collection of Grade 1 listed buildings in the UK. The dock contains shops, restaurants, bars and museums, making it a great place for a family day out.
